Chocolate fever!

June 27th: We had fun making chocolate covered pretzels and fruit. The girls said they had "chocolate fever" and put chocolate all over their arms. We all agreed our favorite character was Mac. We had a personal note from the author telling us that he made that book for his daughter and that he hoped we had some chocolate on the menu, It was fun to have Chloe Luevano join us this month.

Beads! Beads! Beads!

Sherrie and JoAnne help their daughters with the necklace clamps. The girls all have different and unique patterns on their necklaces.

Caddie Woodlawn

Our first meeting went great! We had six girls and their moms come and discuss Maddie's book. Maddie did a fabulous job leading the discussion and had great questions for the group. Everyone participated and had fun spending time together. The girls especially liked the chapters about Annabelle, Uncle Edmund, and Caddie's heroic efforts to save the Indians. Everyone was pleased that Nero, the family dog, found his way home and that Caddie's family decided to stay in Wisconsin rather than claim their inherited fortune. The moms were teary-eyed discussing some of their favorite chapters and characters.
Since we couldn't make a scalp belt, even though Maddie joked about using Olivia's beautiful hair to make one, the girls made necklaces and bracelets out of real turquoise and calcite beads we picked up in Quartzite.
The girls had fun putting the jewelry together and wearing it. I even spotted a couple of them wearing their necklaces at church on Sunday. What fun!
